Michaelmas Newsletter 2016

Overview

Mens

16 senior men started the term, but injuries and other problems caused attrition in the senior crews. M1 was held together by bringing in 3 senior rowers who were not planning on rowing in Michaelmas, and 3 seats freed up during the term in M2. The men’s side had 30 people sign up to novice, 3 novice men had the amazing opportunity to fill the empty seats in M2 and the rest formed crews 1, A and Alpha. Barring some minor damage to the brown boat the term was uneventful but successful and we will hopefully see 5 mens crews for the lent campaign.

Womens

4 senior women started the term, but the strong turnout of 40 novice women should help rebuild the womens side. 4 novice women were offered seats in W1, and the rest formed the 4 crews orange, purple, pink and green. The womens side enjoyed successful Michaelmas, performing well in competitions but occasionally limited by the availability of boats.

QErgs

Queens’ indoor rowing competition. Pembroke entered 1 novice men crew and 2 novice women crews. NM1 came 7th in their division with a 97.9s average missing out by 2.7s from the final. NW1 came 7th in their division with 124.0s, missing out by 7s average. NW2 came 9th with 122.0s in their mixed division, making them the second fastest NW2!
